UTL ALFA online UPS is an uninterruptible power supply incorporating Double-Conversion Technology. The double conversion principle eliminates all power disturbances in the main supply.

ALFA online UPS provides an independent, no break source of clean, stable, transient free uninterrupted power supply with output neutral bonded to the ground this protects critical loads against power line disturbances and loss of commercial power. The UPS gives an accurately controlled sine wave AC output without any line disturbances. It provides Regulated Sinusoidal Output Voltage under several Input conditions such as power failure, surge, sag, spikes, noise, frequency instability and harmonic distortions. The true advantage of the ALFA online UPS is its ability to provide an electrical firewall between the incoming utility power and your sensitive electronic equipments.


Highly reliable single Card based UTL’s Online UPS comprises of a rectifier, an auto float cum boost charger, battery backed inverter with under voltage, over voltage, short-circuit protection along with a high degree of Input to Output isolation. The amplification stage has IGBT technology for pure sine wave output.

Check On/Off Switch.

Check SMPS supply voltage .

Check the reference 1.65V at O/P Feedback(uc pin no-4), I/P feedback( uc pin no-6),Load feedback( uc pin no-5).

SMPS on Problem(Faulty SMPS)

Switching IGBT KO3H1202(Q15) may be faulty.

IC 3845 may be faulty(Shorting between pin no. 5 & 6).

PTC may be faulty.

IGBT Gate resistance may be open.

Check all supplies of smps any of them must not be shorted with GND.

System On problem, O/p not controlled

Feedback 0-10 Transformer may be faulty.

check O/P Preset .

Output feedback connector may be loose, Check AC voltage at the connector.

Load is Resetting (Turning On/Off automatically)

Check the Switch weather it is ok or not.

Check the gate resistances, R9,11,14,15,16,17,10,8. they should be 4.7E .

No AC Output after UPS ON

Check the Position of Bypass Switch. For Inverter its Direction should be 1 for Inverter Output.(Only applicable in Rotary case).

BYPass Relay is not getting ON. Check relay supply voltage at connector.if supply is coming OK then relay is faulty.

Less Backup Time

Check the Charger Voltage. It should be 13.5V/Per Battery.

Check Battery Cutoff Voltage. It should be 10.4/per battery (Adjustable from Display).

Overload in less load

Check resistance across C.T may be open.

Check overload preset O/L.

System is not sensing Mains

Check AC MCB Weather it is loose or in open condition.

Check input connector at PCB, it may be loose.

Input Sensing Transformer may be faulty.

System sensing Mains but Charger problem

Check the Drive of Charger if not OK than charger IC 5500 may be faulty.

Check the Drive of pulse transformer/PCB relay at pin no 21 of uC or transistor Q14. if OK then Pulse Transformer/PCB relay may be faulty.

Charger getting of DC High

Charger IGBT Module may be Short circuit.

Charger drive may not be in control than Charger IC 5500 may be faulty.

Charging current is not Controlled

Shunt +ve and -ve wire may be interchanged.

Check loose connector or IC OP-07 May be faulty.

Humming Noise in UPS ON time

AC capacitor in transformer o/p may be faulty.

AC Fan may be Faulty.

Upper or lower drive of inverter is not ok.

 
 
How to connect Batteries to the system:
1. Battery MCB should be off before connection.
2. Connect positive terminal of battery bank to the MCB of the system which is having +ve symbol on it using wire       as per the manual instruction.
3. Connect negative terminal of battery bank to the MCB of the system which is having -ve symbol on it using wire as per the manual instruction.
 
How to connect Mains to the system:
1. To connect Mains with the system 3 pin terminal block is provided.
2. Connect earth wire from the main distribution board to the system at the terminal which is marked as `E`.
3. Connect neutral wire from the main distribution board to the system at the terminal which is marked as `N`.
4. Connect phase wire from the main distribution board to the system at the terminal which is marked as `P`.
 
How to connect load to the system:
1. To connect load to the system, socket is provided at the backside of the system.
2. Use BS 546(16A, 3 pin plug) receptacle to connect the load to the system.
3. Connect the earth wire of the load to the top terminal of the plug.
4. Connect the neutral wire of the load to the (N) terminal of the plug.
5. Connect the phase wire of the load to the (L) terminal of the plug.
6. Connect the plug to the output socket of the UPS.
 
How to Operate system:
1. Connect Mains to the system.
2. Connect batteries to the system according to the DC voltage.
3. Connect load to the system.
4. Switch ON Mains MCB.
5. Check battery voltage on front LCD according to the system, if it is OK then switch ON the battery MCB.
6. Switch on the UPS from the front RESET switch.
